Healthy Lifestyle Center
Healthy Lifestyle Center exteriorA major facility to house several research centers, including the Healthy Lifestyle Center (HLC), is a joint project of the departments of Exercise and Wellness and Nutrition. The departments have an extensive research partnership, collaborate in mentoring graduate students, and have 14 faculty members with active research programs. A Director has yet to be named.

The mission of the Healthy Lifestyle Center encompasses behavioral and clinical research, the promotion of physical activity and healthy eating, and the training of graduate students in healthy lifestyle research. the HLC will provide new research space to meet the mission and goals of the HLC.

The goal of the HLC is to develop a national center of excellence for the study and promotion of healthy lifestyles in an effort to reduce the impact of chronic, lifestyle-related diseases on the US population. The primary focus in this effort is the reduction of obesity and other lifestyle-related diseases through healthy nutrition and physical activity.

The initial objectives of the HLC project are to significantly enhance the research capabilities of the departments of Exercise and Wellness and Nutrition and ASU's Polytechnic campus as a whole, and to recruit leading researchers to become members of the HLC team of investigators.

In support of these objectives, you are invited to attend the annual Building Healthy Lifestyle's Conference sponsored by the ASU Department of Exercise and Wellness and the Department of Nutrition.
