Academic Standards
A student is expected to make
satisfactory progress toward completion of degree requirements to continue
enrollment in the College of Technology and Applied Sciences. Any
one of the following conditions is considered unsatisfactory progress and
results in the student's being placed on Probationary status:

A semester with GPA less than or equal to 1.50;

two successive semesters with GPA's less than a 2.0; or
-
an ASU cumulative GPA less than a 2.0
A student on academic probation:
-
is limited to 13 semester hours
-
must be cleared and signed off by their department for semester
courses.

After being advised in department, must obtain a special
permit to register issued by the Dean's Office in order to register for
courses.

Permits to register are only issued after the posting of
grades for the semester. (Students are not permitted to participate in
pre-registration)

Registration transactions must take place in person.

A student is subject
to Disqualification if the following retention standards are not met:

A semester GPA of at least 2.25 is not attained and the cumulative GPA is
below a 2.0 at the end of the probationary semester or;
-
The student is placed on probation for two consecutive
semesters and is unable to achieve both the standard GPA's. A 2.25 semester GPA
and at least a 2.0 ASU cumulative GPA.
Disqualification and
the students options:
During a semester on academic probation, a
student who has fails to meet the retention standards is disqualified.

Reinstatement: The college does not accept an
application for reinstatement until the disqualified student has remained
out of the college for at least a 12 month period. Merely having remained in
disqualified status for this period of time does not, in itself, constitute
a basis for reinstatement. Application

Proof of ability to do satisfactory college work in the
chosen discipline is required; for example, completing pertinent courses
in the discipline at a community college with higher-than-average
grades.

Students may request a review of their disqualification
status by contacting the CTAS Dean's Office at (480) 727-1874 and
schedule an appointment to discuss their situation and options with the Academic
Advising Coordinator.

May submit an application to another college. Any
disqualified student who is accepted by another college at ASU may not
register for courses in CTAS unless the courses are required in the new
major.

Disqualified students who register for courses in CTAS
may be withdrawn from these courses any time during the semester.

A semester GPA of 2.25 and
-
A cumulative GPA of at least 2.00
